One woman shot in the leg outside Lakewood bar during altercation Wednesday morning

A physical altercation led to a woman being shot in the leg outside a Lakewood bar early Wednesday morning, police say.

Lakewood police officers were dispatched at 2:11 a.m. to the OakTree Food & Drink in the 8000 block of Steilacoom Boulevard Southwest for a shooting. Police learned that shots were fired during a fight between several women. It is unclear what their relationship is to one another, Lakewood Police Department spokesman Sgt. Charles Porche told The News Tribune.

The woman who was struck ran from the bar to a nearby neighborhood where officers found her. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Porche said.

One man who fired shots during the incident was detained, he said. Detectives plan to interview him to learn his involvement in the shooting. It did not appear he was responsible for the woman’s injuries.

Detectives were interviewing the people involved in the fight and witnesses to learn what occurred. Porche said it was an isolated incident between the people that were present at the bar, and there is no outstanding threat to the community.
