1 person dead after head-on crash at SR-410 and SR-167. Suspected DUI driver arrested
A three-vehicle DUI crash in Sumner left one person dead Wednesday.
A vehicle was driving north on state Route 167 to eastbound state Route 410 when it it drove off the roadway and into the median before 4:20 a.m. The vehicle struck a second vehicle that was traveling west on state Route 410. The second vehicle was taking the southbound state Route 167 exit when the first vehicle crashed into it, Washington State Patrol Trooper John Dattilo told The News Tribune.
A third vehicle that was also taking the southbound 167 exit was also hit by the first vehicle, Dattilo said.
The driver of the second vehicle is deceased. The driver of the third vehicle was taken to an area hospital as a precaution, but was uninjured.
The driver who allegedly caused the crashes was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular homicide, Dattilo said.
The westbound state Route 410 ramp to to southbound state Route 167 will be closed for one to two hours or more.
