Murder charges filed against 19-year-old man arrested in Tacoma shooting, police say

Tacoma police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting from last week.

A man was found unresponsive on June 18 at 11:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of East F Street after a report of a possible shooting, according to the Tacoma Police Department on X.

Officers began live-saving measures. The Tacoma Fire Department pronounced him deceased, the post said.

No one was arrested until Tuesday morning when 19-year-old Zachariah Burnett Lovett was taken into custody and booked into Pierce County Jail. Prosecutors charged Lovett with second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, court records show

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to confirm the victim’s identity.
