23-year-old man killed when he tried to break up a fight in Tacoma officially identified

A 23-year-old man killed in June while trying to break up a fight in Tacoma has been officially identified.

Brichaun Pringle of Spanaway died from multiple gunshot wounds on East 32nd Street on June 18. His manner of death is listed as a homicide, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Zachariah Burnett Lovett, 19, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting. He is being held at Pierce County Jail on $1 million bail, The News Tribune reported.

Prosecutors allege that a fight broke out prior to the shooting involving multiple people. Witnesses said Pringle was attempting to break up an altercation, and soon after, gunshots were fired, according to charging documents.

Prosecutors wrote that Lovett was carrying a rifle with him, and he allegedly used the firearm to shoot at the group of people involved in the altercation.

Pringle was declared deceased at the scene after police and medical personnel arrived.

He was described as a “driven individual who made a mark in the world as an entrepreneur,” according to an online obituary.

“Born and raised in Tacoma, Brichaun’s vibrant personality and warm smile made a lasting impression on all who knew him. He had a knack for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and he cherished the friendships he cultivated over the years,” the obituary said.
