Pierce County deputies shoot and kill armed man following domestic-violence incident

Pierce County deputies shot and killed a man in Buckley late Wednesday night.

Deputies were dispatched at 11:32 p.m. to the 7500 block of 242nd Avenue Court East for a domestic-violence incident involving a firearm, according to the department on Facebook.

The woman was asked to come out of her home. At 11:44 p.m. deputies advised that a man had racked his rifle and could be seen from the window. Deputies said they had probable cause to arrest him for first-degree assault and were notifying SWAT and negotiators to come to the scene, the post said.

Deputies were advised at 11:51 p.m. that the man was on the porch with a firearm and immediately announced “shots fired,” the post said. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. No deputies were injured.

The Pierce County Force Investigation Team is taking over the investigation.
