Pursuit of ‘dangerous’ drive-by shooting suspects in Pierce County ends in arrests

A man and woman suspected of a drive-by shooting were arrested in Pierce County following a pursuit Monday.

Pierce County deputies were dispatched at 7:07 a.m to reports of a drive-by shooting in the 6400 block of 80th Street East. A silver sedan was spotted leaving the area, according to a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The alleged shooters refused to comply after deputies found their sedan, and a pursuit began. The driver of the sedan hit a car during the pursuit, causing minor injuries. Pierce County deputies shortly thereafter ended the pursuit with a PIT maneuver, the release said.

The release said that deputies continued the pursuit because the alleged shooters were considered extremely dangerous and reckless. It was likely they would have killed or hurt someone if they were not stopped.

The sedan was impounded. The man and woman were taken into custody. Two firearms were tossed from the sedan and a third was located in the vehicle, the release said.

The 46-year-old man is suspected of vehicular assault, drive-by-shooting, felony eluding, unlawful possession of a firearm first degree and possession of a stolen firearm.

The 33-year-old woman is suspected of unlawful possession of a firearm, obstruction and drive-by-shooting.
