Suspects robbed and ran, Tacoma police say, but could not escape the fast feet of the law
Tacoma police arrested four people earlier this month in connection with an armed robbery in the city’s South End.
The Tacoma Police Department on Friday morning posted body-cam footage of the Aug. 2 arrests to X (Twitter).
The victim told authorities he’d been robbed at gunpoint by four people in a white vehicle, according to the post. Police found the car after a search and tried to prevent the driver from fleeing, but the vehicle sped away. A chase ensued.
“Spike strips were deployed, deflating two of the suspect vehicle’s tires, but the driver continued,” TPD wrote. “The chase concluded near 8600 S C St, where three suspects fled on foot while one remained with the vehicle.”
The department mentioned the speed of its officers; one used to be a collegiate athlete. Police caught and arrested the suspected robbers.
TPD’s X post included hashtags such as “#justanotherdayattheoffice” and “#yougottarunfasterthanthat.”
The suspects were booked for investigation of first-degree assault and robbery, felony eluding and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, among others. Department spokesperson Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune that one suspect was an adult and three were juveniles.
