Update: Suspect in custody after shooting near Tacoma’s Lincoln High leaves teen injured

Tacoma Police spokesperson Shelbie Boyd said police are booking the suspect into Remann Hall for assault in the first degree.

A shooting left a 16-year-old boy injured about a block from Lincoln High School on Monday, according to Tacoma Police spokesperson Shelbie Boyd.

Boyd said the shooting occurred just before noon in the 600 block of South 37th Street. The victim was taken in a private vehicle to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Police are not releasing information about the suspect because they’re hoping to get the suspect into custody shortly, she said. She also declined to share information about the circumstances of the shooting.

Asked if the victim is a student at Lincoln High School, Boyd did not provide a response.
