Stolen car crashes into doors, fence of Pierce County high school. No suspects identified
A stolen car reportedly crashed into the mains doors and a fence at Bethel High School early Tuesday.
A 911 caller reported at 4:40 a.m. that they saw a vehicle crash through the school’s fence. Twelve minutes later, security found a Hyundai sedan that also crashed into the front doors. The engine was running, but no one was seen near the car, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Darren Moss told The News Tribune.
While deputies were responding, they were advised that the sedan was reported stolen from Graham earlier that morning. The vehicle was recovered and towed from the school, Moss said.
Moss said the integrity of the building was not compromised, and no suspects had been identified Tuesday morning.
A Bethel School District spokesperson confirmed that a car damaged the doors and fence of the school. The school district is still getting an estimate for the damages.
Anyone with information on the vehicle theft or damage to the school is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Department or make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers on their app, website or the Sheriff’s Department’s app.
