Man arrested after shooting in Pierce County home leaves 1 dead, sheriff’s deputies say
A man was fatally shot inside a residence at the 2300 block of 165th Street East in Spanaway, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
The department posted on social media at 5:24 p.m. that one male suspect is in custody.
The Sheriff’s Department got a call about a man shot at 4:02 p.m. Monday, spokesperson deputy Carly Cappetto told The News Tribune via phone. When deputies arrived, they administered first aid to the victim, but he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured.
Deputies got a clear description of the suspect, who had fled the scene. He was found nearby and taken into custody without further incident, Cappetto said.
“We don’t have any threat or danger (remaining) to the community, and everybody has been accounted for,” she added.
The reasons leading to the shooting are unknown at this time, according to Cappetto.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department posted on X at 4:08 p.m. Tuesday that the male suspect is 22 years old and has been identified as the son of the victim, who was 47.
