A man was found shot and killed in Tacoma early Thursday morning, according to police.

Officers were dispatched at about 2:30 a.m. to the 4800 block of North 18th Street for reports of shots fired in the area and a man lying in the street, according to a Tacoma Police Department news release.

The man suffered several gunshot wounds, the release said. Officers and Tacoma Fire Department personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the man was declared dead at the scene.
