First update:

A suspect is in custody after a several-hours standoff with multiple agencies in Lakewood on Wednesday, the Lakewood Police Department posted on X at 5:56 p.m. No additional injuries have been reported for anyone involved.

Initial post:

Lakewood police have issued an evacuation alert Wednesday morning.

Anyone in the area of 110th Street and 25th Avenue South is ordered to leave the area and stay out until police clear it, according to the Lakewood Police Department on X.

Officers were dispatched at about 9:07 a.m. to a used auto-parts store at the 2000 block of 112th Street South for a suspicious person and possible burglary suspect. The person scaled a fence topped with razor wire onto JBLM property, according an updated post.

The post said that the person ran into an occupied business when officers arrived. About 20 minutes later, shots were fired.

The people in the business escaped. The alleged shooter is the only person inside the building. Police negotiators are on the scene working “to bring a peaceful resolution,” the post said.

The public is asked to remain out of the area until police clear it.

As of 3:52 p.m., negotiators are still on the scene, according to Lakewood police on X. The public is asked to remain out of the area until the situation is resolved.
