Teenager arrested after wrong-way crash that left one woman dead in Pierce County

A Buckley teenager has been arrested after his vehicle collided with another car on Interstate 5 in Lakewood, leaving one woman dead Thursday night.

The 17-year-old was allegedly driving his 2013 Nissan Titan south in the northbound lanes on I-5 near 112th Street South. A Honda Civic was traveling north on I-5 when the Nissan struck the car at about 11:29 p.m., according to a Washington State Patrol news release.

Both vehicles came to a rest. The woman driving the Honda died on the scene, the release said. The State Patrol identified her as Mia Tanner Lockard, 18, of Washougal.

The teen was uninjured and could face charges of driving under the influence and vehicular homicide.

The roadway was blocked for about five hours and 20 minutes, the release said.
