Update: Lockdown on Lakewood schools lifted. Suspect who tried to ram officer identified

Lakewood Police Department officers are in the Oakbrook area searching for a DUI suspect who allegedly tried to ram an officer on March 18. 

Two schools in Lakewood are on lockdown as police search for a DUI suspect who allegedly tried to ram an officer.

Officers are in the Oakbrook area searching. Dower Elementary School and Hudtloff Middle School were placed on lockdown as a precaution, according to the police department on X.

The department said it would provide updates as they become available.

8:55 a.m. update: Dower Elementary School is no longer on lockdown. Officers are still searching the Oakbrook area for the suspect.

9 a.m. update: The lockdown on Hudtloff Middle School has also been lifted, the department said on X.

Police are clearing the area. The person they were searching for is not in custody, but has been identified, the post said. Officers are going to follow up and there is no danger to the community.
