Neighborhood dispute leads to fatal shooting, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office says
Pierce County sheriff’s deputies responded Friday to a neighborhood dispute that ended with a fatal shooting.
The Sheriff’s Office posted a brief statement on social media, saying investigators were headed to the 4400 block of 60th Street Court East in the Waller community. One man is dead, and the other is in custody, said sheriff’s spokesperson Carly Cappetto.
“Male on male, neighbor on neighbor,” Cappetto said. “It does sound like there was some history.”
A later statement from the sheriff’s office provided more detail. The initial call came at 4:29 p.m. from the 43-year-old suspect. He reported shooting his neighbor, who had tried to strangle him.
By the time deputies arrived, the victim, a 46-year-old man, was “beyond help,” Cappetto said, and pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect, still on the scene, did not resist arrest and cooperated with deputies. Investigators are still gathering details about what sparked the incident.
