Man found fatally shot in Pierce County cul-de-sac. Homicide investigation underway

A shooting in a Pierce County neighborhood Wednesday left one man dead.

Deputies were dispatched at 10:36 p.m. to the 17400 block of 17th Avenue East near Spanaway after neighbors reported they heard about 20 to 30 gunshots and then saw a man lying in the middle of the cul-de-sac. When the residents went to check on the man, he was dead, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook.

The cul-de-sac was “littered” with shell casings when deputies arrived, the post said. Home and vehicles near the home had been struck by gunfire. No one else was injured.

“At this time, our detectives and forensics are on the scene, and the male has not been identified. He appears to be a young adult approximately 18-20 years old,” the post said.

No arrests have been made, and it is not known who shot the man, the post said.
