Tacoma man killed in apartment identified. A 15-year-old has been charged

The man who was fatally stabbed in a Pierce County apartment unit last week has been identified as 23-year-old Malik Session, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Session died from a stab wound to the neck on April 30 near the 1000 block of 76th Street Court East. His manner of death was listed as a homicide, the office wrote in a news release.

Prosecutors charged a 15-year-old with second-degree murder. Prosecutors filed a motion Thursday that they would seek to decline the charges into adult court.

A plea of not guilty was entered on the teen’s behalf during his arraignment Thursday. Pierce County Juvenile Court Judge Joseph Evans ordered the teen to be held in secure detention at Remann Hall.

Prosecutors say the teenager allegedly stabbed Session after the man fought with the teen’s mother. The teenager told deputies that night he reportedly thought Session had hurt his mom, according to charging documents.

Session was taken to Tacoma General Hospital after the stabbing, where he died.
