Pierce County prosecutors have charged a man with luring after he allegedly tried to get a teenage girl to leave the Lakewood library with him.
Olajuwon Jones, 28, also known as Kevin Karanja, was to be arraigned Tuesday. He pleaded not guilty and bail was set at $XXX,XXX.
Police were called Saturday to the library at 6300 Wildaire Road SW after a 14-year-old girl called her mother to report that Jones was following her.
The girl hid in the library until help arrived. An officer found Jones nearby.
According to charging papers, he admitted to offering the girl a ride because the library “smelled like gasoline.”
The girl said Jones kept following her around even after she asked him to leave her alone. She said he told her there were “bad people” inside the library, records show.
