Tacoma police arrested and booked a man on suspicion of first-degree murder after responding to a reported fatal shooting Thursday afternoon.

The dispatch call came shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to police spokesperson Shelbie Boyd. Officers headed to an address in the 5800 block of Pacific Avenue.

They found a wounded, unresponsive man, according to a later press release from Boyd that did not include the man’s age. Life-saving measures failed, the release said. Tacoma firefighters soon arrived and declared the man was dead.

Officers on the scene learned of a suspect. He was arrested “without incident,” the release stated. The man was later booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
