Why were police vehicles at Puyallup’s Good Samaritan Hospital Wednesday evening?
Deputies allege that an armed robber took off with a gold chain necklace before he was apprehended near MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup Wednesday.
Pierce County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Carly Cappetto said a call about an armed robbery came in at 3:28 p.m. A person was preparing to sell a gold chain necklace at Alta Apartments in Parkland when the suspect showed up as the supposed buyer and stole it from the owner. The suspect pointed a gun at the seller and fled in a vehicle.
About 10 minutes later, the Puyallup Police Department told the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office that officers had located the suspect vehicle and tracked it to the MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital. The suspect fled on foot but was apprehended by the authorities with the assistance of a Puyallup K9 unit, Cappetto said.
The Puyallup Police Department posted on X at 4:43 p.m. that they were on-scene of a parking garage at the hospital “working to apprehend a felony suspect.” Puyallup Police spokesperson Jason Visnaw said that they were assisting the sheriff’s office with the case. Another post just before 5 p.m. said the man was in custody but asked people to avoid the area while officers were completing their investigation.
There are no other outstanding suspects, Cappetto said. The age of the man in custody was not immediately available.
