80 cats seized from trailer in Pierce County to be taken to Humane Society

Eighty cats and kittens were rescued in Graham from an overcrowded trailer Tuesday and will be taken to the Humane Society in Tacoma.

Neighbors in the area were concerned about a 30-foot long camper trailer filled with cats and reported it. Pierce County Animal Control and deputies seized the cats at around 8:30 a.m. through a warrant, according to the Sheriff’s Office on Facebook.

“A total of 6 female cats were nursing litters and many more female cats are expected to be pregnant,” the post said. “The cats range in age from 3-days-old to about 3-years-old. All cats seized are a mix of Maine Coon and domestic medium hair cats.”

Many cats, especially the kittens, were infested with fleas and have upper respiratory infections, the post said.

Those that needed immediate medical care were taken to a veterinarian right away, the post said. All cats and kittens will get examined by a vet. After the examinations are completed, the cats will be released to the Tacoma Pierce County Humane Society for adoption.

Anyone interested in adopting can reach out to the Humane Society or visit its website.
