A driver was arrested after Tacoma police said he stole a vehicle and struck a trailer while trying to flee from them Thursday morning.

A person called police at 7:30 a.m. to report that her vehicle was stolen. Police later found the vehicle occupied by a male in the 2600 block of Bay Street at 8:30 a.m., Tacoma Police Department spokesperson officer Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune.

Boyd said the driver drove off and struck a trailer that was carrying bleachers. The trailer flipped over, and at that point the driver ran off.

Officers chased the driver and caught him 11 minutes later, she said. He was arrested.

No one was injured. The arrested driver was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

No other vehicles were hit. Boyd did not immediately have the age of the driver.
