Woman arrested for fatal stabbing in Milton townhome, police say

One woman was killed and another was arrested after a stabbing in a Milton townhome Monday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched at 1:47 p.m. to the 24th Avenue Court Townhomes after a homeowner reported a stabbing in progress. She alleged she saw a woman stabbing another woman in the home before running to a nearby unit for help, according to the Milton Police Department’s news release.

A woman in her 30s was leaving the townhome when police arrived. She was detained, the release said.

A 40-year-old woman was found unresponsive from apparent stab wounds. Life-saving measures were attempted by Milton, Edgewood and Fife officers until fire department medical personnel arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The Metro Cities Crime Response Unit (CRU) is assisting the Milton Police Department with processing the crime scene and conducting the homicide investigation,” the release said.

The release said the motive for the stabbing is unknown. Everyone involved in the incident knew each other.

The woman was arrested and booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.
