Nearly 100 cats seized in Pierce County. Authorities need help caring for them
Authorities seized over 100 cats from a Buckley home in “deplorable conditions” Wednesday, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office shared on Facebook.
Three people, all adults, were living with the felines, the post said. It’s unknown at this time if any of them were arrested.
All the cats are alive and being cared for by Auburn Humane Society and other animal organizations, Buckley Police public information officer Jared Howells told The News Tribune.
Pierce County Animal Control assisted the Buckley Police Department with seizing the animals and documenting their conditions.
Many of them are suffering with a variety of medical issues, Howells said.
Due to the large scale of the operation, the Buckley Police Department is asking for help from the public.
The police are still in need of crates to house the cats. Those with available wire crates can either donate or loan them to the department at 146 South Cedar Street in Buckley.
Authorities are also coordinating resources and might need to seek assistance from licensed animal rescues and veterinarians who can help with the care and placement of animals.
