Mother, son and dog found fatally shot in Key Peninsula home

A mother, her son and a dog were found dead inside a Key Peninsula home Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies were dispatched at 1:27 p.m. to the 7400 block of 185th Avenue Northwest after a caller reported he came home from work to find his wife, adult son and dog dead from gunshot wounds, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson deputy Carly Cappetto told The News Tribune via email.

All three were confirmed dead in a bedroom after deputies arrived.

The husband said their son had been struggling with mental health issues and addiction. The son had been allowed to stay the night with them, Cappetto said.

A gun was found at the scene. She said there appeared to be no outstanding suspects. The husband has been cooperative, she added.

This is a developing story.
