A 16-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to ordering his cousin to fatally shoot a Tacoma man at an apartment building last year.

Jeremy Paz Pineda pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the Feb. 14 death of 18-year-old Kadony Robbins. Pineda was 15 when the crime occurred.

Paz Pineda was initially charged in Pierce County Juvenile Court where he was held at Remann Hall in secure detention.

The murder charge was sent into adult court Friday morning. Paz Pineda pleaded guilty, and a judge sentenced him to an agreed recommendation of 10 years in prison and 36 months of community custody, according to the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Court records show that family members and those who knew Paz Pineda sent letters of support for the judge’s consideration.

Prosecutors charged Jason Dale Lenahan Jr., 17, with first-degree murder and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm in May 2025. Lenahan is accused of firing a gunshot at Robbins.

Lenahan pleaded not guilty and is in custody at the Pierce County Jail on a $1 million bail. His next court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 9.

Incident details

Officers were dispatched on Feb. 14 to an apartment building in the 1300 block of South G Street for a reported homicide. Robbins was found on the ground in the doorway to the apartments suffering a gunshot wound, according to charging documents. Shell casings were scattered in the area.

Robbins was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, prosecutors wrote.

Detectives learned there was a party in one of the apartments and that Pineda was a friend or acquaintance of one of the people attending. An argument ensued between Paz Pineda and an older man, according to another witness. The teen and his friends were asked to leave, and the argument continued, prosecutors wrote. Robbins attempted to escort the teenager out, documents show.

When people tried to get inside the building, Paz Pineda hit Robbins’ girlfriend. The girlfriend told detectives Robbins went outside and yelled at Paz Pineda. Paz Pineda then told his cousin, allegedly Lenahan, to shoot Robbins. Robbins was struck in the chest with a gunshot. Lenahan and Pineda ran off after the shooting, according to charging documents.

Paz Pineda was arrested after he showed up at the hospital. Robbins’ friends confirmed to police that the teen had ordered the shooting, documents show. There were also text messages in which Paz Pineda told Lenahan to get rid of the gun, to which Lenahan allegedly replied saying he did.
