One person dead in Tacoma shooting; homicide investigation underway

A shooting in Tacoma left one person dead early Wednesday morning.

Officers were dispatched at 4:49 a.m. to the 1100 block of South I Street for shots fired in the area. One person was found injured from gunshot wounds, Tacoma Police Department spokesperson officer Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune.

Police began life-saving measures until Tacoma Fire Department personnel arrived. The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, Boyd said. That person later died at the hospital.

Boyd said the shooting occurred alongside the street. No arrests have been made.

The shooting is being investigated as a homicide.

Information on the age and gender of the victim was not immediately available.
