Driver dies in Tacoma crash. Causing driver arrested for vehicular homicide

A driver is suspected of striking another vehicle while intoxicated in Tacoma on Tuesday night, killing a person in the other car.

Officers were dispatched at 8:06 p.m. to Yakima Avenue and South 23rd Street. A driver had crashed into another vehicle on South 23rd, Tacoma Police Department officer Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune.

The man who was in the second vehicle was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead Wednesday morning.

The 22-year-old driver who allegedly caused the crash was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and DWI, jail records show.

Boyd said the crash was under investigation until midnight.
