Man arrested for smashing windows at car-dealership lots in Tacoma

A man in his 40s was arrested Thursday morning for smashing windows at auto-shop lots in Tacoma.

The first call came in at 3:24 a.m. after the man smashed windows on a lot in the 7200 block of South Tacoma Way. The man then went to a second location in the 7800 block to smash car windows, Tacoma Police Department officer Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune.

The man tried to steal a vehicle from the second location before he was arrested, she said.

Tacoma Fire personnel went to the scene as a precaution for medical aid, but Boyd said he was fine and taken straight to the Pierce County Jail.

The man was booked into the jail on suspicion of burglary, attempted motor vehicle theft and first-degree malicious mischief.
