A standoff involving the Tacoma Police Department’s SWAT team ended Tuesday in a man’s arrest after he refused to leave a residence in South Tacoma where he might have imprisoned a female victim, TPD Officer Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune.

Authorities received a call around 1:30 p.m. about a “possible imprisonment” at 3900 South Tyler Street, Boyd said.

TPD officers first on the scene attempted to make contact with the man, as did a hostage negotiator.

The man didn’t surrender until a SWAT team breached the door. He was arrested on suspicion of assault in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment and resisting arrest.

The female victim suffered injuries but was not hospitalized.
