2 arrested after shooting in Tacoma involving 2-year-old child

Two people were arrested in Tacoma on Tuesday night following a shooting involving a 2-year-old child.

Officers were dispatched at 9:28 p.m. to the 2300 block of 96th Street South for reports of shots fired with a possible injury on the child, Tacoma Police Department spokesperson officer Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune.

She said the child went to the hospital in stable condition.

An alleged shooter was found in the Center Street and Union Avenue area at 11:43 p.m., Boyd said. One person was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault, another person was arrested for rendering criminal assistance.

Boyd said the case is active.
