The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s help locating a driver who critically injured a pedestrian in a hit-and-run collision on Canyon Road.

On April 10 at around 10:15 p.m., the 32-year-old victim exited his car to pick up a pair of sunglasses he dropped from his window, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office shared on Facebook.

A dark-colored pick-up traveling south on Canyon Road East struck the man, paused then fled south, the post said.

While lying in the road, the victim was struck by a second car whose driver remained on scene and was cooperative with law enforcement.

The victim is in critical condition, the Sheriff’s Office shared in a Facebook update.

Vehicle parts gathered from the scene indicate the truck was a Chevy Silverado model made between 1994 and 2000, the post said. Most of the damage came from the center grill of the truck.

Anyone with information about the driver of a Chevy Silverado with front grill damage is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office’s non-emergency line at 253-287-4455.

The office is also requesting anyone with surveillance video of vehicles traveling south on Canyon Road East from 72nd Street East to 116th Street East around the time of the incident to submit the footage to its evidence.com portal.
