4 suspects at large, 14 smashed-up Pierce County cars: Police seek public’s help

Police are searching for four people accused of breaking into over a dozen vehicles.

According to a news release from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, the break-ins happened on May 16 at 4:35 a.m. at the Garfield Station Apartments in Parkland, near Pacific Lutheran University.

“A total of 14 vehicles had smashed out windows and appeared to have been rummaged through,” the release said.

In the release, the office said residents are frustrated because it was “the second time several vehicles had been hit in a two-day period.”

Deputy Carly Cappetto, spokesperson for PCSO, told The News Tribune a previous string of prowls had happened the day before on May 15 but said the number of vehicles was not listed in the report.

A surveillance video caught a white sedan pulling into the parking lot at about 3:09 a.m., the release said.

“You can see four individuals get out of the vehicle. Two subjects begin prowling cars while the other two subjects remain as lookouts,” the release said. “The vehicle, clothing of the subjects, hair, and the particular way one of the subjects walks are all key factors the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is asking community members to pay attention to in hopes these suspects can be identified.”

If you know any information, call PCSO at 253-287-4455.
