Washington State Patrol seeks help identifying suspect in freeway shooting

The Washington State Patrol is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect vehicle involved in a freeway shooting on Friday.

At approximately 6:37 a.m., a gray Toyota Corolla and a black Honda Accord were driving aggressively along southbound Interstate 5 near the Tacoma Dome, according to a WSP press release.

When the Corolla exited onto westbound State Route 16 using the left side HOV off-ramp, the driver inside the Accord fired two rounds at the Corolla, the release said.

Both shots hit the vehicle, with one penetrating the passenger side door and almost hitting the driver.

The WSP is working to identify the suspect’s vehicle, which is believed to be a black 2021-2022 Honda Accord with no front license plate.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dash cam footage or any other leads regarding the shooting is urged to contact Detective Adam Gruener at adam.gruener@wsp.wa.gov or 253-538-3176.
