A teenager was shot dead. Pierce County deputies are looking for suspect vehicle
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office released video Tuesday of a car thought to be involved in the fatal shooting of a teenager in Parkland.
“Investigators are asking anyone with information about the vehicle or its occupants to call our office and speak with a detective,” Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Carly Cappetto said in a news release. “Detectives are also continuing to collect community surveillance footage from residents in the 10200 block of Sheridan Ave. S. and Ainsworth Ave. S., as well as any additional video that may capture or match the suspect vehicle.”
The video shows what appears to be a red, four-door passenger car with tinted windows.
Authorities say Braylon Daniel Diaz, 17, was walking in the 10200 block of Sheridan Avenue South on Sunday when a car pulled alongside him and the people inside robbed him of jewelry and then shot him, The News Tribune previously reported. Deputies were dispatched about 7:13 p.m. and found the teenager’s body in the street.
A GoFundMe fundraiser created to help cover funeral costs and support the victim’s family had raised more than $11,000 by Tuesday morning.
The GoFundMe post described the teenager as bright and loving and said his family is devastated by his death.
