A woman was hospitalized after a crash near Parkland on Monday.

According to a news release from the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at 4:56 a.m. on state Route 7 over state Route 512 near Parkland.

A 38-year-old Tacoma man was driving south on state Route 7, the release said, while a 56-year-old woman from Roy was driving north and making a left to turn onto westbound state Route 512.

The man’s car hit the woman’s vehicle, the release said, sending his car onto the sidewalk in the first lane. The woman’s car stopped partially on the ramp to state Route 512.

The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular assault, the release said, while the woman was sent to a hospital.

The cause is listed as “under investigation” in the release.

According to the release, the roadway was blocked for one hour and 11 minutes.
