A man has been hospitalized after a police chase in Lakewood early Friday morning.

Charles Porche, spokesperson for the Lakewood Police Department, told The News Tribune the call came in at about 2 a.m. after two men got into a fight at a bar in the area of 88th Street South and South Tacoma Way.

One of the men threatened the other man, Porche said, causing police to chase him.

The chase ended in a crash on Interstate 5 northbound, near the area where the freeway crosses with state Route 16. Porche said the man was taken to a hospital as a precaution before being booked into jail.

Porche was unable to confirm the exact crimes the man would be booked for but said it would likely be felony harassment and eluding.

The News Tribune reached out to Adam Faber, spokesperson for the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Faber said the office has not received information about the case yet.
