One arrested after shooting at Lakewood park
One person was arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly shooting two people at a park in Lakewood.
According to a news release from the Lakewood Police Department, the incident happened at 8:20 p.m. in Harry Todd Park.
“Callers reported a physical altercation occurring in the park, during which several individuals reported hearing two or three gunshots,” the release said. “Upon arrival, Officers learned that two people may have sustained gunshot wounds; however, neither victim remained at the scene.”
Officers interviewed people at the scene and got a description of the suspect, the release said, then found the suspected shooter with the help of a K-9 from the Puyallup Police Department.
The suspected shooter is a juvenile boy, the release said, and was booked into Remann Hall on two counts of first-degree assault and one count of reckless endangerment.
Both victims had taken themselves to local hospitals, the release said. One of the victims was a juvenile boy who sustained a gunshot wound to his left thigh, while the other victim, an adult woman, sustained a gunshot wound to her left foot.
“Both individuals were interviewed by Officers, treated for their injuries and released,” LPD wrote.
The investigation remains ongoing, the release said, and anyone with information can call LPD at 253-287-4455.
