He thought he was meeting a juvenile at Tacoma hotel. Instead, he met the FBI

A Port Orchard man is in custody following a Washington State Patrol child exploitation investigation that ended at a Tacoma hotel, the agency announced in a press release.

In May, the 34-year-old man began engaging in online conversations with whom he believed to be a 13-year-old girl and her mother, according to court records. Instead, he was speaking with an undercover detective from the Missing and Exploited Children Task Force.

The man allegedly expressed that he wanted to meet with the pair to impregnate the juvenile in exchange for $1,000, the release said.

After arranging a meetup with whom he thought was the mother and daughter, he traveled to the Hotel Murano in downtown Tacoma on June 25 to have sex with the child, the release said.

MECTF detectives and FBI special agents promptly arrested him as he entered the hotel.

His charges include attempted rape of a child, attempted commercial sex abuse of a minor and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

His bail is $250,000.
