Gig Harbor-area burglar sought by investigators
Pierce County Sheriff’s Department investigators are trying to identify someone who broke into a Gig Harbor-area home earlier this month.
The person forced open a gate about 12:20 a.m. Aug. 2 to a property on 103rd Avenue Northwest, near Kopachuk State Park, backed into the driveway, then smashed a glass door with a rock to get into the house, according to Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers.
That woke up the homeowners, and the person walked out another door without taking anything.
Surveillance video shows part of the incident.
Investigators said a black plastic magazine found near where the suspect’s vehicle had been was loaded with special high-velocity ammunition, which can only be fired from a corresponding semi-automatic handgun.
The suspect appears to be a white man, who may drive a light-colored vehicle and walk with a limp. He was wearing shorts and a striped shirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips are anonymous and can lead to a reward.
