Armed man robs Puyallup restaurant

An armed man in a blond wig robbed a Puyallup restaurant during breakfast, police say.

The man walked into Ma’s Place, 720 39th Ave. SW, about 9:10 a.m. Monday and spoke briefly to a waitress behind the breakfast counter.

He waited for three patrons to walk away before demanding money, police said. Witnesses said the robber then ran south from the restaurant.

Police used search dogs to scour the neighborhood, but couldn’t find him. The robber likely had a vehicle parked nearby, Capt. Scott Engle said.

No one was hurt during the holdup.

The robber was described as white, about 6 feet 1 with a thin build, possibly blue eyes and was unshaven. He was wearing white sunglasses, a blond wig, blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans with a chain wallet.

Engle said he’s also believed to be responsible for two other recent restaurant robberies: one at Elmer’s in Tacoma Aug. 25 at 7427 S. Hosmer St., and another at The Buttered Biscuit Aug. 29 at 1014 N. St. in Sumner.

Anyone with information on the robber’s identity is asked to call the Puyallup Police Department’s tip line at 253-770-3343.
