A Prairie Ridge woman was burned Monday while escaping from a house fire, according to East Pierce Fire & Rescue.

Crews were called just before 10 a.m. to a burning home in the 12300 block of 218th Avenue Court.

When firefighters arrived, the woman who lives there was in the yard with burn injuries. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and was listed in critical condition.

Investigators were trying to figure out what started the fire, which firefighters quickly put out.
