Police: Man accused of kidnapping ex-girlfriend and infant turns himself in
A teenager Tacoma police said kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and their infant daughter turned himself in Monday.
Mickeal Gordon, 17, was charged Monday with two counts of first-degree assault, one count of second-degree kidnapping, drive-by shooting, and second-degree unlawful gun possession. He was booked into the Pierce County Jail about 4:30 p.m.
Mother and child returned home safely Saturday, police said, hours after they were allegedly taken.
Charging papers and police give this account:
Gordon showed up in a car with another man about 12:30 p.m. at a home near South 70th Street and South L Street, looking for ex-girlfriend Nakeisha Belk, 18, and their 5-month-old daughter.
He was upset, and a witness tried to call Belk to tell her to stay away. But about the same time Belk, her current boyfriend, the baby, and four other people ages 6, 10, 15 and 16 arrived in a van.
Gordon, who was carrying a gun, opened the side door of the van, hit Belk, and pulled her from the vehicle.
Holding her by her hair, he took her to the car — a black Cadillac — put the gun away, and demanded the baby. Belk’s current boyfriend handed Gordon the infant, and he put her in the car.
Then Gordon turned to the van, shot through the back window, and as people scattered he fired two more shots in the direction of Belk’s boyfriend and the 10-year-old, who were both running to the home.
One shot went through the kitchen, and another went into a bedroom.
Gordon then left with the mother and child, and police issued an Amber Alert to find them.
About five hours later Gordon’s mom gave Belk a ride home with the baby.
Belk declined to give a statement, and said she was not kidnapped or assaulted and that she did not see a gun. She admitted that he pulled her from the van, but said she went with him willingly.
Gordon told her he was sorry, that he loved her, and that he needed help. She said he felt bad for shooting at the kids.
