South Hill-area bank robbed; deputies chase, catch and arrest two men
A pair of men robbed the Heritage Bank at 12803 Canyon Road E. on Wednesday, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer gave this account:
A man wearing a cowboy hat and sunglasses showed a teller a note demanding cash about 1:50 p.m., then fled in a white Pontiac sedan with a getaway driver.
The two headed north on Canyon Road. When a deputy saw them about six minutes later traveling west on state Route 512, the Pontiac took off at more than 70 mph, and reportedly drove on the median and passed cars on both shoulders.
The men’s car left the highway at Portland Avenue and they stopped the car and took off on foot.
Deputies found the two and took them into custody. One was taken to a hospital, and the other was taken to talk to authorities.
Further details were not available.
