A man was arrested by Puyallup police on suspicion of trespassing and unlawful discharge of a firearm in the city limits Saturday, following an incident that police initially feared involved an active shooter situation.
The Puyallup Police Department and other police agencies responded to reports of gunfire early Saturday evening near the intersection of Ninth Street Southwest and state Route 512. Police said the man was showing off his firearm to a juvenile and that he fired 42 shots either into the ground or into a tree in a wooded area.
Nearby roads were shut down during the incident but were later re-opened.
