Sex offender registrations in Pierce County

The following convicted sex offenders have recently registered to live in Pierce County.

Each is categorized as a Level 3 sex offender — those considered most likely to commit similar crimes. None is wanted by law enforcement officers at this time.

All convicted sex offenders registered to live in Tacoma and Pierce County are listed on the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department’s website at piercesheriff.org.

Jesse D. Shoffstall

Age: 58.

Description: 5 feet 9 and 140 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Where registered to live: 2300 block of Fawcett Avenue, Tacoma.

Criminal history: Convicted in 1990 of first-degree child rape in Pierce County for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl. Convicted in 1992 of first-degree child rape for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl.

Sex offender treatment: Admitted in 2012 to the Special Commitment Center and participated in a treatment program.

Brent W. Pettis

Age: 56.

Description: 6 feet and 195 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Where registered to live: 7200 block of South Fawcett Avenue, Tacoma.

Criminal history: Convicted in 1986 of indecent liberties for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl. Convicted in 1987 and 1991 of first-degree statutory rape for repeatedly sexually assaulting two young girls and a 7-year-old boy. Convicted in 1990 of third-degree child molestation for abusing a 15-year-old boy.

Sex offender treatment: Sent to the Special Commitment Center in 2002 and participated in a treatment program.

Bruce J. Brooks

Age: 47.

Description: 5 feet 9 and 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Where registered to live: 900 block of East 61st Street, Tacoma.

Criminal history: Convicted in 1992 of first-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping in King County for abducting and sexually assaulting a woman he didn’t know.

Sex offender treatment: Participated in a treatment program while incarcerated.
