Officers to serve burgers at Red Robin on Saturday to support Special Olympics

The wait staff at Red Robin restaurants across the state will be replaced with police officers Saturday (Oct. 24) for a Tip-A-Cop event.

They’ll be serving from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 4 to 8 p.m., with all tips going to Special Olympics Washington.

Officers from Fircrest, Tacoma, DuPont, Steilacoom, Ruston and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department will be at the Tacoma location at 3901 S. Steele St., as will some Special Olympics athletes.

The Lakewood, Puyallup and Bonney Lake Red Robin restaurants will host fund-raisers as well.

Between the Tip-A-Cop event, polar plunge and other fund-raisers, Washington officers raised more than $500,000 for the Special Olympics in 2014.
