Young pedestrian on SR 302 injured on Christmas Eve

A 14-year-old boy was injured just after 5 p.m. Thursday after being struck by a vehicle driven by a 68-year-old Gig Harbor woman.

The Washington State Patrol said the driver was westbound on state Route 302 near 97th Avenue on the Key Peninsula when the boy crossed the road and was struck by the vehicle. The State Patrol cited the driver for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The boy, Chad Stark, was transported to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, where he was listed in critical condition Friday night.
