A Federal Way woman died and southbound Interstate 5 was closed for nearly 12 hours after a Saturday night wreck in South King County, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The crash occurred about 11:30 p.m. just south of South 188th Street.
Troopers said a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe carrying three people, including the woman killed, was headed south when the driver lost control of the SUV while slowing for traffic. The Tahoe traveled into the adjoining lane, where it collided with a tractor-trailer.
The big rig rolled as a result of the impact and both vehicles slid onto the left shoulder, troopers said.

The 40-year-old Kent woman driving the Tahoe was badly injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. Her other passenger, a 42-year-old Kent man, also was hurt and taken to Harborview. The woman who died was not wearing her seat belt while the others in the SUV were, troopers said.
Two people in the tractor-trailer were taken to Highline Medical Center for treatment.
Troopers said they are investigating whether criminal charges should be filed.
