Puyallup police warn parents about attempted luring

Puyallup police are warning parents to watch for a man who tried to lure a teenage girl early Tuesday.

The man tried luring the 14-year-old about 8 a.m. near 21st Street Southeast and Wildwood Park Drive while she was on her way to classes at Ferrucci Junior High School.

“It’s a single incident so far,” police spokesman Scott Engle said.

The man, believed to be in his 40s and described as white or Hispanic, slowed his car as the girl was walking and made a comment to her, Engle said.

He circled the area and approached her a couple of more times. When the girl got to school, she told administrators and they called police.

The girl described the man’s car as a “very bright and clean” white four-door sedan with dark wheels and rims and tinted windows. A child’s car seat was in the back, Engle said.

The school notified parents of Ferrucci students via an online message board and informed families at nearby Sunrise and Wildwood elementary schools.

“The student did absolutely the right thing by continuing to walk to school and ignoring him,” Engle said.
